on august 21st, we had our first activity day at carver rec. jessica c. had organized an owl pellet dissection for the group which was a big hit!! the kids had a great time using the tiny tweezers to pull the hair away from the bones. there were even charts to help you figure out what animal your owl pellet used to be. it was fascinating to watch all these little heads bent over their work. they were so diligent, so patient.
it was also a planning day. we went outside to discuss the rest of the year's activities while the kids played on the playground (and inside...and all over the place). we sketched out a rough idea of what each month would look like and then called it a day.
